Misson Statement
The purpose of this organization shall be to establish a corporation of members for the purpose of encouraging restoration and/or preservation of the Classic Chevrolet automobile, including trucks and Corvettes.
Carol Haunahan had a Chevy 2 Door Hardtop and a dream to establish a car club in Oklahoma City for owners of 1958 - 1964 Chevrolet's. She contacted Bob Brown, owner of Wesco Chevy to see if there might be an interest in forming a club. They decided to place an advertisment in the paper and see what happended. Well I guess you could say the rest is history!
Twenty plus Late Great owners showed up for the first meeting at The Sonic on 39th Street in 1993. Bob asked the Tulsa Late Great Chevy Club to assist setting up the Oklahoma City club and also contacted the National Late Great Chevy's. At first the National office balked at the idea that Oklahoma was large enough to support two clubs. At the time you had to be a member of the national Late Great's. So, Bob set out to convince them. Needless to say the second meeting took place at Johnnie's Charbroil on NW Expressway and a club was born. At this meeting in 1994, Bob Brown became the first officer as President and Carol served as Secretary.
Thanks to Carol and her vision The Late Great Chevy's of OKC continues to this day.
